Stop making stupid decisions and start powering up your business. Demolish your business nightmares and start celebrating as your business fulfills its promise.

And these brilliant business tips are all here for free! So settle in and scoop up these tantalizing goodies before your competition does!

#10. ‘Tis the Season to Become a Crime Victim

Our first jaw-dropping tip is all about how the gift-giving season can also be a time ripe for thieves. Stanley Security offered some practical things you can do to cut the chances of your business being burglarized in between the eggnog and Secret Santa.

Most impressive was that two of the tips have little to no extra cost.

Keep Spirits Bright with Better Office Security

One is simply to be aware that your office is (most likely) going to be closed for a while during the holidays. So know who has the access codes, and make sure the company which handles your alarms and reports them to the authorities knows your schedule.

The other low-cost tip we loved was to simply make your employees more aware. After all, the quarter is ending, and people are busy. But they should still know not to open the locked doors to someone without identification. An alert workforce is almost as good as a comprehensive alarm system.

#9. Love Your Customers and They Will Love You Back

The next awesome tip is about customer service, and just how vital it should be to your business. Forbes released a fantastic article about this very topic.

treating - Spread Company Cheer with the Best Business Holiday Greetings – 10 Brilliant Business Tips of the WeekOne stat which really caught our eye was the fact that seven out of ten consumers reported spending more money just to get better customer service! Treating your customers well quite literally pays off.

The key is both prompt and personalized customer service – a feat which can be hard to do at times. Being fast can and should get a boost from the technology your company uses. And personalizing can also get a leg up from your business tech. But it all, inevitably comes down to people.

In fact, the millennial generation was more likely to want to pay a little extra for better customer service.

How Do You Do It?

As noted above, good technology can help in both areas. So make sure your databases are up to date, and they are as complete as possible. If your speed is slipping, considering updating both your computer hardware and software. And if your personalization is faltering, considering hiring more customer service reps.

#8. Father Time is a Speed Demon

Our following life-changing tip concerns managing your time better. Hackernoon put together five excellent tips to help keep you from putting your head down at 9 AM and then suddenly it’s 5 PM. Yeah, we’ve all been there.

And so our favorite tip is one we wholeheartedly endorse – going to bed early and getting up early. Oh, and by the way, you may find it saves you an enormous amount of time you’re not even expecting. Why? Because if everyone else is commuting at 8, and you’re commuting at 7, your commute will be shorter. And the same is true by leaving at 4 instead of 5.

#7. Use More Software in Your Business – Here are Some Ideas You May Not Have Thought Of

This tip is so intuitive, and it works! Directive listed several ways small businesses can make use of software to get all sorts of tasks done.

Consider one of our favorites – collaboration. While you can even collaborate with paper (Who uses that anymore?), using documents in the cloud means everyone can see the document, no matter where they are. This means on laptops and desktop units, but also on phones.

In particular, collaborative efforts via documents stored in the cloud means the version control problem is put to bed once and for all.

All Around the World

In addition, the article covered remote work and telecommuting, two of our favorite concepts! This is also where the cloud comes in mighty handy. Imagine having to travel to the other side of the world to work with someone. With technology, of course you don’t have to. Pretty sweet!

#6. Keep Your Computers Out of the Computer Hospital

For our next sensational tip, we looked at how to make sure all of that awesome technology from Tip #7 is working right. Lincoln Labs provided some helpful tips to make sure all of your company’s tech gadgets are running like a top.

One of our favorites was to do frequent updates. And another was to upgrade when necessary. Confidentially, we think the 2017 Equifax data breach could have been prevented or at least diminished with more frequent updates.

Besides, so many upgrades and updates spell time savings! Make sure everything is and stays compatible, and you’ll cut the frustration as well. And, seriously, who needs to be undergoing a quarter’s worth of updates when something is due in five minutes?

#5. These Melted Our Hearts – the Best Business Holiday Greetings

Grab this mind-blowing tip while it’s hot! We were thrilled to find the best business holiday greetings out there. Don’t be left out!

Small Business Trends got together a great list of holiday greetings any business can send out. The greetings are courteous and thoughtful.

However – we do want to point out that all but four of them mention Christmas. You may have employees who don’t celebrate Christmas, after all.

Rather than say Christmas, or list every single December holiday out there (that may take a while), you can instead swap ‘Merry Christmas’ for ‘Happy Holidays’. Or you can swap Christmas for ‘the holiday season’. Use whichever makes the most sense, given the context. You want the sentence to make sense, of course.

Oh My God, it’s a War on Christmas! Go Man the Tinsel Cannon!

Er, no. The truth is, the vast majority of businesses have at least one person for whom the holiday is just the twenty-fifth of the month. Or they might have at least one client or supplier where the same is true. Those people might be taking holiday shifts so others can celebrate. That’s an awesome thing to do, so please don’t leave them out!

But Why ‘Happy Holidays’? Isn’t Christmas universal?

Actually, it’s not. While it may feel that way in the United States, the same is not true of every corner of the globe. In particular, for companies which have outsourced, or may have contractors from other countries, including them in the year-end festivities is just plain the right thing to do.

But Wait, That’s Just Being Politically Correct!

Rather than see it that way, instead look at it as a way to include all of your employees, your customers, and your suppliers. We are in a global marketplace and a global workforce. Or just look at it as a way to just print one greeting instead of two or twelve.

And – bonus! – there are multiple holidays in December. Even the most ardent atheist recognizes both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. As a result, ‘Happy Holidays’ is 100% accurate for everyone. So please at least consider it.

#4. Greetings from the Future! Check Out These Trends!

Check out this spectacular tip, all about 30 expected ecommerce trends for 2019, Pronko Consulting looked in their crystal ball and found a trend for every day of most months.

What truly endeared this list to us was how many of the expected trends coincide so well with the tips in this blog post! Personalization? Yep. Better customer experience? Yes. Better analytics? You betcha!

Be sure to take a look at their entire list. Are any of their forecasts in your company’s plans for 2019?

#3. Pow! Bang! Pull the Trigger on Irresistible Content Marketing

It’s not your imagination: this winning tip can get people reading YOUR content. Infographic Now republished an infographic from Content Triggers. It is an excellent visual reminder of how to get content marketing right.

In tips #4 and #9, we talked about personalization, and that is right in the thick of this infographic. Content must start with a connection.  We could be writing the most amazing content, yet if it doesn’t grab an audience, it’s a waste of time.

Hand in hand with connection is engagement, with nurturing not too far behind. Don’t just grab attention; hold it with relevant content, and keep it coming.

Want more? It’s an awesome infographic. We recommend you check it out directly.

#2. So Far, Yet So Close

Our second to last unbeatable tip can give you a new perspective on managing a remote workforce. Forbes has done it again, with a terrific article on the topic. Perhaps our favorite tip was to value performance over presence. That is, hours worked is a less accurate or helpful measure of productivity than completed tasks and projects is.

The best way to track this is with KPI measurements. That is, key performance indicators. Hence your best employees might complete six tasks but they do them perfectly, without a hitch, and only minor flaws. And your less than wonderful employees might complete twice as many such tasks, but more massaging is necessary in order to get them right.

Which is better? In general, quality should beat out quantity.

Your Software Rescue – a True Story

So, your intrepid blog writer has worked with Asana in two separate places. One was at a previous job with an employer who shall remain nameless. And the other is with Credit Suite. At the first employer, the boss tossed a tool in employees’ laps (this was a pure work from home role) and with no guidance on how to use it, or why, or what for.

At Credit Suite, we received extensive training, and now it’s hard to imagine living without it. Asana helps with so many tasks and it helps keep everything far better organized. Three guesses as to which company is still in business, and the first three don’t count.

Yeah, it’s like that.keeping - Spread Company Cheer with the Best Business Holiday Greetings – 10 Brilliant Business Tips of the Week

Keeping organized is essential for a remote workforce. But so is mentoring, and shepherding employees along. Put in the time, and it will pay off.

#1. On Your Mark, Get Set, 2019!

We saved the best for last. For our favorite remarkable tip, we focused on sweeping clean your to-do list for next year. Forbes once again crushed it, with a fascinating article with 16 tips.

As everyone knows, the beginning of a quarter and, in particular, the start of a year, can be a time of introspection. Business owners, understandably, may be thinking of a change.

Get Input from Your Employees

We really loved this tip, and it’s no wonder. After all, your employers work at your company, too. The people on the front lines know things and see things the people in the back office never see. All they want to do is help, so make it easy and open your eyes and ears.

Don’t Do This!

Another favorite tip was identifying what not to do. We’re often so caught up with what we need to do that we skim over the behaviors and policies we need to stop dead in their tracks. So take a few moments, as you look inside yourself, and you consider how your business is going, and how it will. And root out what doesn’t work, and what actively harms your company. Because success also means removing the things that make failure more likely.

So which one of our brilliant business tips was your favorite? And which one will you be implementing now?
