#10. Get the Party Started and Keep it Going

Our first jaw-dropping tip is all about dovetailing your marketing content with holidays. While Constant Contact acknowledges the bigger holidays are done for a while, there are still plenty in February.

Day in, Day out

Of course, Groundhog Day and the Super Bowl are done for the year. Plus the Chinese New Year has already happened (Happy Year of the Pig). And everyone knows about Valentine’s Day. But what about the seventeenth, which is Random Acts of Kindness Day? And there’s also President’s Day. It falls on the eighteenth this year.

Celebrate All Month Long

Plus of course it’s Black History Month. And it’s American Heart Month (because of Valentine’s Day, get it?). But did you also know it’s Relationship Wellness Month? Plus it’s also International Boost Self-Esteem Month.

Bring the Fun to Cubicle One

Kindness - Business Wonder Woman to the Rescue! –10 Brilliant Business Tips of the WeekSo, what do all of these days and months mean to your business? You can try showcasing random acts of kindness. It doesn’t just work for the seventeenth. It can potentially work for boosting self-esteem and even Valentine’s Day, when you take friendship into account. Being friends is a form of relationship which should stay healthy, yes?

What are some great acts of kindness? Consider your company’s mission. Do you regularly give to a charity? Perhaps it’s something you’re more likely to showcase in November, to coincide with Thanksgiving. And while that’s great, there’s no reason you can’t showcase charitable acts again.

Plus, who said celebrations had to only be marketing-centric? Why not show your employees how much you appreciate them this month? Maybe your random act of kindness could be an unexpected team lunch. Or maybe an extra business casual day for the next few weeks.

Your ideas are just limited by your budget and time. And, maybe, your industry.

And by the way, we think you could do this any time of the year. Kindness is never out of season.

#9. Let’s Get Engaged! At a Webinar?

The next awesome tip is about hosting better webinars, to engage and convert leads. Zapier says one of the best things you can do is to sprinkle the interesting stuff around the webinar.

Here’s what they are talking about.

Improving Webinar Structure to Increase Engagement

You’ve got points you want to make, right? And they may or may not have a particular order you have to deliver them in. So you might be committed to a certain order for your slides. And that’s okay!

But if you can mix up the order of the presentation, you may be able to strew the highlights around and into several places. Your audience will not remain engaged all the time. That’s natural; our minds wander. And keeping the more interesting stuff all together means you’re in danger of your audience fleeing before you’re done.

And that would stink.

So let’s say you’ve got – oh, I don’t know – ten brilliant business tips to talk about. And there are three that are really socko. The other seven are good but they might not have as much of a wow factor.

Hey, it happens.

By mixing the three wows with the seven whatevz, you add interest to the less glamorous stuff you still need to get across. And, at the same time, you might even be making the wows, er, wowie-er.

A Fer-Instance from Film

Consider an action flick, or a horror movie. The killer doesn’t just lock all the victims in a box with a land shark in five minutes and then gets a snack. And the train doesn’t derail every five seconds or whatever is the action in the action flick.

In both instances, the higher points are interspersed with the lower ones. The audience gets to catch its collective breath. And in so doing, the film maker can make the next high point even higher. Lulling people into a false sense of security is a time-honored cinematic trope.

Why not do something like that with webinars?

#8. Bills, Bills, Bills

Our following life-changing tip concerns invoicing. Noobpreneur offers tips on how to make the invoicing experience work for you.

We may not think about invoices much. We get them, we pay them. Or we send them, and we cross our fingers and toes, hoping to be paid on time. But there is more you can do with an invoice. Here’s how.

Picture, If You Will

You’ve gotten a professionally-prepared bill recently, haven’t you? Even if it’s for something personal, you got one. So whether it’s for an oil delivery or for your latest shipment of widgets or from your doctor, you got a bill.

Let’s consider the elements of a good invoice.

  • Contact Information
  • Total Amount Due
  • Date Due

If an invoice is missing any of these, it can become impossible to pay. “Gee, I know I owe someone something or other. So I’ll just roll the dice and pay a random amount whichever creditor I think of first. Magazine subscription? Okay, I’ll pay that. Sorry, cell phone company, gas company, rent collector, etc.”

Said no one, ever.

Finesse

But there’s more. Once you’ve got those three basics down, a few other things you can do with an invoice are:

  • If you’re a creative, show off your design skills
  • Use the invoice to continue to showcase your branding
  • Add a thoughtful message, even something like, “It’s a pleasure doing business with you.”
  • Keep the paper to help out if you’re ever audited…
  • … or sued.

Not bad for a monthly piece of paper, eh?

#7. There’s One for You, Nineteen for Me (With Apologies to George Harrison)

For our next sensational tip, we looked at what we all love to hate – taxes. The Work at Home Woman notes there are some things about taxes which home-based entrepreneurs should know.

We really loved that this tip works so well with tip #8 and tip #5 (spoiler alert).

That is, one of the best tips is one we’ve probably all heard at one point or another: keep your receipts! And the other one works just as well: hire a professional to help you, if you can and if you need one.

So as tax season amps up, we encourage you to click through and check out the article in its entirety, and its outstanding information on a chore we all must do.

#6. Card Me – By Paper or Digitally

paper business - Business Wonder Woman to the Rescue! –10 Brilliant Business Tips of the WeekThis tip is so interesting, and it works! Design Hill put together the pros and cons of using either old-fashioned paper business cards or their electronic cousins. There are definite ups and downs to using either.

But some, we felt, were nearly the same. In both instances, the card might be trashed or lost. Well, yeah. But this is true of everything.

We felt the two most convincing arguments were both negative ones. For paper cards, the biggest issue with them is they are not environmentally friendly. Like anything else made from paper, this means chopping down trees. Would recycled paper work? We think business owners should at least try.

And on the other side of the equation, the biggest negative for electronic business cards is not everyone will be able to access them. This is true if you use a bespoke program. But what if you just use good old-fashioned Adobe, and make the ‘card’ accessible via Acrobat? Now, it’s not going to look just like a business card, but is that truly a deal breaker? Maybe it shouldn’t be.

We also think, eventually, a leader will rise in this industry, just like one has arisen for search engines (Google), social media platforms (Facebook), online sales (Amazon, Etsy, and eBay, which all fill different niches). Once that happens, the objection that not everyone can access a card will start to go away.

Hence our stab at a solution is this. Paper business cards tend to be easier to access than electronic. Buy fewer of them or buy recycled, to keep them out of landfills.

#5. With Her Power Suit, Her Lasso of Truth, and Her Indestructible Bracelets, it’s Business Wonder Woman!

Grab this mind-blowing tip while it’s hot!

You don’t need a tiara to be a business wonder woman. Tiffany Nicole reveals five great tips for business owners who just so happen to be female.

Stay with It

We really loved her emphasis on stick-to-itiveness. For everyone starting a business – regardless of gender – there can be a million reasons not to start. Or they might be a million reasons not to go on. Our families demand our time. Or our health balks. Or economic conditions pancake.

Whatever it is, there is a lot of push to, well, stop pushing.

But she says not to do that.

Instead, her advice is to consider all of the people who were told something or other was a bad idea – yet they went ahead and did it anyway. While success is, of course, far from guaranteed, there’s one thing we know for certain.

Failure is guaranteed if you do nothing, or if you quit.

So hop in your invisible jet and keep on keepin’ on.

Play to Your Strengths – Just Like a Business Wonder Woman

It’s just like Wonder Woman doesn’t have Superman’s x-ray vision, but she does have Themiscyra behind her. So any business wonder woman should know what she’s good at. And there is a corollary to that advice: get help in areas where you need it. There’s no shame in hiring, say, an accountant to do the books. Truth is, it’ll probably keep you and your business out of legal/IRS hot water.

Wonder Woman does, after all, work with the Justice League at times. Because some problems need not just one Amazonian princess, but a whole slew of superheroes to solve them. And the same is true for you and your company.

#4. A Touch of Tech Class

Check out this spectacular tip, all about in-person tech training. Small Business Bonfire said updating your skill set is a great idea, and we agree wholeheartedly.

The concept of learning in person (versus online) is also an excellent idea. Some great points include the networking which can come from going to class with others. Your intrepid blog writer can attest to this – a degree program pursued 100% online made for a very interesting in-person graduation day, when I met my classmates for the first time in person. A bit weird.

The in-person training experience can also help struggling students. Sometimes, you need to watch someone perform a task before you get it. While that’s possible online (we at Credit Suite record explainer videos for each other all the time), there is something about the personal touch. If you learn better that way, then purely online learning is probably not for you.

#3. A Cure for a Case of the Mondays

It’s not your imagination: this winning tip can really help with employee morale. Our friends at Nav reported on GoShare, a moving connector (almost like Uber or AirBnB but for movers and moving trucks) company which pays its employees on Mondays. Monday paydays aren’t just a pleasant part of what can be a difficult day. They are also very helpful for employee personal cash flow.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go out on a weekend, knowing the financial tank will be topped off sooner rather than later?

#2. Business Understudies

a risk - Business Wonder Woman to the Rescue! –10 Brilliant Business Tips of the WeekOur second to last unbeatable tip can give you a new perspective on how to handle things when a critical role employee cannot do their jobs. Young Upstarts pointed out how a risk management plan can really help.

We see it a lot like an understudy in a play. When the star is out with the flu, or to go to their daughter’s wedding, or whatever, the understudy knows the role cold. They can go in with no preparation because they’re already ready.

This is also true of the bench in sports. Every team sport allows for substitutions, when a player is hurt. And those bench players may be the ones to step up if the star player leaves in a trade. Why not do something similar in your business?

A risk management plan is not just a nice idea on paper. It can save your business if a critical employee is suddenly out of commission. Be ready!

#1. Your Golden Years are Coming Sooner Than You Think

We saved the best for last. For the finish line for remarkable tips, we focused on the finish line for working – retirement. Infobeat took the lead on the discussion with a sobering look at how ill-prepared many business owners are for retirement. With a third not having any plan at all, this does not bode well for the future.

Our favorite tip from this article was to live within your means, and spend less than you make. Interestingly enough, it fits in quite well with what we often say about building business credit. We think leveraging debt is fantastic for business credit building. While at the same time, we also feel it’s vital to separate your personal and business credit.

Hence this is yet another reason to build business credit – so you can save your personal income and savings for your retirement. Because it’s coming up, faster than you might realize. And even Business Wonder Woman can’t save you from that.

So which one of our brilliant business tips was your favorite? And which one will you be implementing now?
