Stop making stupid decisions and start powering up your business. Demolish your business nightmares and start celebrating as your business fulfills its promise.
And these brilliant business tips are all here for free! So settle in and scoop up these tantalizing goodies before your competition does!
Our first jaw-dropping tip is all about company transparency. That is, keeping everything clear from the get-go in an organization. And the good folks at Forbes mean everything.
The idea is for openness to pervade all aspects of the company. This means the hiring process is open, so you get candidates interested in your business and its mission, versus applying blindly to some company hiding behind anonymity. It also means compliance is easier. This is because if everyone knows what the others in the firm are supposed to be doing, then it’s far simpler to figure out when someone is not.
Yet another benefit is a somewhat flatter company hierarchy. Hence if knowledge is shared, in theory, anyone can make business decisions. And also, in theory, even the humblest low end of the totem pole employees could have input into decisions as important as the direction of a business.
And it also, truly, prevents frustration. With openness, there can be a lot less passive-aggressive secret keeping. Letting it all hang out can make it easier to make the best suggestions the first time around.
So, open that kimono already.
The next awesome tip is about how to watch your pennies (and nickels, etc.) in your business. Business Today recently came up with eleven sure-fire tips to save some company bucks.
We especially liked keeping separate bank accounts. After all, they help save time (which means money) when it’s tax season. This is because you know when expenditures go with what. And the truth is, separate accounts might just help you in the event of an audit.
Another stellar tip we loved was all about bad business debts. Essentially, business owners need to know when an old business debt is truly a lost cause. Don’t keep them on the books forever! Write them off and present a far more accurate financial picture to investors.
Sing along with Elsa from Frozen, and just Let. It. Go.
Our following life-changing tip concerns, of all things, packaging. If you sell goods, then this tip from Small Business Bonfire should be right up your alley. The concept is a simple yet ingenious one, and it hops on the unboxing video trend rather nicely.
By adding interest to your packaging, you have yet another opportunity to surprise and delight your customers. Hence creating sustainable packaging, or at least prettifying it, is a great idea.
One idea we truly loved was personalization. Naturally, this will not work for many businesses, due to scale. If you ship out 1,000 items per year, and it’s just you, you’re probably lucky to be keeping up with demand. You won’t have the time for personalization.
Or do you?
While the article doesn’t get into this, certainly preprinted thank-you cards could be ideal. And using a mail merge-style program and printing out clear labels could be the way to go. Yes, it’s not as wonderful as a handwritten note. But a note with the customer’s name on it could be feasible, and could still surprise and delight.
Dear Mary,

For our next sensational tip, we looked at 10 fantastic employee management tips from Business Blogs. This article hits the nail right on the head, immediately. Unemployment is currently at about 3.8%. As a result, replacing disgruntled employees is time-consuming and could be a frustrating exercise. And this does not even get into the expense!
So, how do you make your employees, er, gruntled?
By being open and honest with them. Hey, that’s tip #10, isn’t it? Why yes, yes, it is!
We do so love it when the tips dovetail with each other.
But getting back to retaining employees with better management, we also loved the tip to give credit. And it’s not just because we write about business credit around here! It’s also because we truly feel it’s the right thing to do. So, share the love and the credit. Employees will, no doubt be happier.
There were three others which we felt are all sides of the same oddly-shaped coin. The first is to do your best to minimize cliques. And the second is to stay positive. While the third is to keep conflicts from festering. All three of these stellar tips deal with interpersonal relations.
Minimizing cliques means shaking up the work place at times. It also means addressing office gossip and stopping the gossip train. Keeping conflicts from escalating works perfectly with this tip. After all, who do we gossip about the most, our friends or our enemies?
If you said friends, stay after class and clean the erasers.
As for positivity, the idea is mainly to be hopeful. Consider the following scenario.
Probably everyone here was either in school or working during 9/11. We were, albeit not for Credit Suite (the company was founded in 2014).
So, think about two managers, during what is one of the most if not the most traumatic experience at work any of us have ever had. Manager A tells everyone to keep working. She ignores pleas to go home or contact loved ones (keep in mind, cell phones weren’t everywhere like they are these days). Manager A also complains about how productivity is down.
Manager B gathers everyone in a huddle and they all talk. They express their fears and concerns, about a cousin not yet heard from, or for emergency services workers, or about feeling safe. She takes the time to listen. And although it’s a far from positive day, she offers an encouraging thought: we will get through this.
Guess which manager is better at retaining her employees?
This tip is so stunning, and it works!
Do you know how to negotiate? The folks at Business Tips sure do. Negotiating seems to be one of those life skills that you never really learn in school. No wonder so many people don’t enjoy doing it. In fact, over half of all people don’t negotiate their salaries.
We loved this article because it lays out the facts and methodology so well that you can follow along, nodding, seeing yourself performing all of the steps and getting to a yes.
One could say it was written persuasively. And, tip fans, persuasion is the name of the game in negotiations. We urge you to read the article for yourselves and get the full treatment.

This was a terrific infographic about what to write – and not write – in a business blog. You know, like this one. Digital Information World really outdid themselves with this one!
We really liked the tip to write for your audience. Because that’s exactly what we try to do here, so we are kind of partial to that. Are we writing about what you need to know? Because if we aren’t, then we would love to hear about it. We are here to serve YOU. Give the people content they want? Absolutely!

Check out this spectacular tip, all about what successful entrepreneurs do differently. The fine folks at Talk Business put together seven epic things the most savvy do.
We especially liked their tip about using time wisely. Isn’t it easy to get lost in Netflix or take a good, long nap or a drive or go shopping? Well, sure it is. But these aren’t necessarily the best uses of one’s time.
Now, don’t get us wrong. One of the tips is to take care of yourself physically, and that can often mean any of those things. They aren’t ‘wrong’, per se. But they are still not, for the most part, productive and effective uses of your time.
So, consider if you’re a morning person or a night owl. If your most productive time is 3 AM, then so be it. It’s a great time to tackle the hardest of the hard tasks on your plate. And, let’s face it, you might be the most awesome person in the business to talk to the folks on the other side of the globe. Use your alertness as a tool.
Another tip we thought was excellent was that these successful people also never stop learning. And learning can take a ton of forms. It doesn’t have to be a classroom – unless you prefer that, have the time for it, and do best in one. There’s online learning, and there are also audio books. Learn while you’re at the gym!
And there’s nothing wrong with cracking a good old-fashioned book. We’re partial to reading and taking paper notes – it helps a lot with retention.
It’s not your imagination: this winning tip can really make your business shine!
Our next tip looks at word of mouth advertising. At Crowd Spring, they assembled a half a dozen marvelous strategies to work with what is, potentially, the best form of advertising any business could ever ask for.
A significant percentage of purchases are made via family and friend recommendations these days. It’s a matter of trust. Hence the strategies which work best nurture and encourage trustworthy relationships and behaviors.
For example, displaying ratings and reviews gives your customers a stake in your business – they’re making content for you, in a way (and another excellent tip involved the use of user-generated content, by the way).
Ratings and reviews also absolutely evoke trust, particularly if you don’t shy away from reviews that are less than stellar. Of course, sometimes there are fake negative reviews. And you will have to deal with those. But for the real thing, showing a few not so perfect reviews is a gesture of good faith that is anything but hollow.
Our second to last unbeatable tip can give you a new perspective on cyber security. We feel safer already with this thorough article from Tech Radar.
We were particularly impressed with their insistence on installing security patches. And it reminded us of (of all things), the Equifax data breach. This is because it appears that some of the credit reporting agency giant came from, you guessed it, not keeping up with security patches and their installation.
After all, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Norton, and all the rest aren’t just nagging you for fun. They are trying to protect you. But you have got to do your part.
Another tip was one we admit we sometimes have some trouble with – creating strong passwords. Humans need passwords we can remember. We just don’t have the time to go hunting around for our passwords every day we’re on the job (you know, the efficient use of time tip from #4?).
And what do people do when their passwords are too hard to remember? You guessed it – they write them down.
And that’s not so secure, either. Perhaps the best way to tame the password beast is to restrict usage. Keeping administrative passwords in the hands of only a few will reduce risk. And the same is true for keeping the more sensitive material out of the hands of everyone but those who are on a ‘need to know’ basis. Yet another exceptional tip is to require employees to change passwords every 60 to 120 days or so.
As for strong passwords, their advice is: use at least 12 characters, with a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters. And keep them as random as you can.
We saved the best for last. For our favorite remarkable tip, we focused on motivation. The good people of LifeHack offered 16 separate ways to keep the motivation tank topped off.
Sweet!
One of our absolute favorites was to recognize the small victories. In fact, we recognize it as a bit of advice from dieting/getting into shape.
If you need to lose 20 pounds, and you don’t reward yourself until all 20 are off, it might be a while before you hit your goal. And you might be tempted to cheat, because you are otherwise depriving yourself. But if you reward yourself after every 5-pound goal is shattered, you’ll be a far happier person. And you will also be intelligently managing your task. Happier people are more likely to want to lose weight.
So, the same applies to business. If you give yourself permission to have some rewards for your smaller good acts, you’ll bake motivation right into your days.
Another tip we loved was to map out your goals. Just like 20 pounds off doesn’t happen in one day (not without liposuction, that is), neither do your business goals. Chunk everything down into reasonable bite-sized bits (all these food metaphors are making us hungry).
Bottom line: don’t try to do it all at once. You most likely can’t, anyway, and all you’d be doing is stressing yourself out. Life does not have to be that way!
So which one of our brilliant business tips was your favorite? And which one will you be implementing now?
